Who is the specific training for? What are the options?

31-01-2022

Since the end of January 2022, Pro Fly Center | DJI Academy has introduced a training programme for the Specific category. This training is for those who in the OPEN category, cannot perform flights according to your requirements.

Maximum flight altitude of 120 metres, flying only within visual range (VLOS) and restrictions on flying over people and flying close to buildings, depending on the class of drone or its weight. These are, in short, the characteristics of the OPEN CATEGORY.

(if you would like to know more about licences in the OPEN CATEGORY, please click here)

What if you want to fly a higher weight class, fly closer to buildings or out of sight? Then you need to do that flight in a special class. And this is where the problems start, because you can only do these flights based on 3 solutions:

1) National scenarios - these are defined by the European CAA national scenarios, which set out the flight rules and conditions. The problem is that there is no national scenario in Germany.

2) European scenarios - EASA has developed pan-European scenarios for VLOS and BVLOS operations. The problem is that the scenarios are linked to drone classes that currently do not work in Europe. Therefore, the implementation of the European scenarios has been postponed until the end of 2023.

The last solution is to create our own scenario based on ConOps. At the moment, this is the only solution for individuals and companies who want to conduct flights in the Specific category.

Creating ConOps is neither quick nor easy. It often involves more than a hundred pages of documentation together with a SORA analysis, which (unnecessarily) puts many off. For this reason, Pro Fly Center | DJI Academy together with Rolawind GmbH has started to offer 3 training products that make it easier to create ConOps and get flight approvals.

Who is the specific training for? For all companies and institutions that need to perform flights outside the OPEN CATEGORY in their work such as:
- DJI Matrice 300 flights with the H20T camera to inspect industrial areas.
- Flights above 120 metres with any drone
- Flights with any drone out of visual range
- Flights with a drone heavier than 250 grams over crowds of people
- Flights with a DJI Matrice 300 within 150 metres over residential areas

etc.
